On 22 Jan. 2011 the 133rd AGM of Dooars Branch of ITA was held at Central Doors Club, Binaguri. Highlights of Mr. M. Bhattacharya’s speech are:

1. Doorars produced 142 m Kgs. compared to the previous year’s 137 m Kgs.
2. Prices gained and that would augur well for the industry.
3. An area that threatens the very existence of plantations is the dwindling labour force, and therefore mechanization is the call of the day.
4. Labour costs constitute 75 to 80% of the cost of production.
5. He welcomed the successful e-auction system and commended the Tea Board for its introduction.
